About Icelandic Mountain Guides
Icelandic Mountain Guides is Iceland's pioneering glacier and mountain adventure company, having invented the commercial glacier walk experience in Iceland back in 1994. Now part of the Icelandia group, the company operates from its Reykjavik headquarters at Klettagardar 12 and maintains bases at Solheimajokull on the South Coast and Skaftafell in Vatnajokull National Park.
Their tour portfolio covers glacier walks at multiple difficulty levels, ice climbing, volcano hikes, multi-day highland treks, and South Coast day tours combining glacier experiences with iconic waterfall visits at Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss. They also run the popular Laugavegur and Fimmvorduhals multi-day hiking trails during summer, with mountain hut accommodation and luggage transport included. Winter adds ice cave expeditions and Northern Lights tours.
With over 30 years of operations, Icelandic Mountain Guides has trained more glacier guides than any other company in Iceland. They hold full tour operator licensing, are a member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association, and maintain the highest safety standards for all glacier and mountain activities. Their guides are certified professionals who bring both technical expertise and deep knowledge of Icelandic geology and ecology to every tour.
