Lifetime Adventures has been the sole outfitter at Eklutna Lake for over 35 years, providing kayak and mountain bike rentals just 45 minutes north of downtown Anchorage. Eklutna Lake is a stunning glacial lake surrounded by Chugach State Park wilderness — so remote there's no cell service, which is exactly the point. The operation runs daily through the summer season with a full rental shop right at the lake.
Their rental fleet includes single and tandem kayaks, mountain bikes, and all the accessories you need for a full day on the water or trail. Rentals are available in 2-hour, 4-hour, 8-hour, and overnight blocks. The most popular adventure is the one-way kayak-to-bike combo: paddle 8 miles to the far end of the lake, then ride 9 miles of trail back to the start — a uniquely Alaskan way to spend a day.
Beyond rentals, Lifetime Adventures runs guided kayak tours, team-building outings, and shuttle transportation from Anchorage. The 20-plus miles of recreational trails around the lake offer everything from easy gravel paths to challenging climbs, and the guides know where to spot bears, eagles, and Dall sheep. It's the closest genuine wilderness experience you can get to Anchorage without a floatplane.
