About MECO Sailing
MECO Sailing offers 2.5-hour sailing experiences on Lake Superior departing from their slip at 325 South Lake Avenue in Duluth's harbour district, right next to the Blue Minnesota Slip Bridge. Named after the NASA term "Main Engine Cut Off," MECO brings a spirit of adventure and discovery to every outing on the big lake.
Each trip passes under the iconic Aerial Lift Bridge and out onto the open waters of Lake Superior, where guests are invited to help steer the boat, raise the sails, and learn basic sailing techniques — or simply sit back and enjoy the ride. You'll see Duluth's waterfront skyline, the sandy stretch of Park Point beach, and on clear days the Wisconsin shoreline across the bay. Trips run from spring through fall, weather permitting.
MECO is a great option for visitors who want a hands-on sailing experience without the commitment of a full-day charter. The 2.5-hour format is long enough to get a real feel for sailing on Superior's cold, clear waters while still fitting into a packed Duluth itinerary. The crew keeps things relaxed and welcoming — no sailing experience required.
