About Mt Hutt Ski Area
Mt Hutt is the NZSki ski area above Methven, at the top of a 14 km unsealed access road off Waimarama Road. There is no accommodation on the mountain, so skiers stay in Methven, and chains must be carried on the road at all times.
It has New Zealand's first eight-seater chairlift, the Summit Six, a triple chair, two learner conveyors and four terrain parks. The resort sells lift passes, runs a Snowsports School and hires gear on the mountain, with a First Timer Package that bundles a learner pass, a group lesson and equipment.
The 2026 season ran from 12 June to 11 October, with lifts from 9am to 4pm.
