About Mt Norquay
Mt Norquay is the closest ski resort to Banff townsite, sitting just six minutes from downtown on Mt Norquay Road. A local favourite since 1926, Norquay offers 190 acres of skiable terrain across 60 runs, plus a snow tube park and night skiing — making it one of the most accessible alpine experiences in the Canadian Rockies.
In summer, Norquay transforms into an adventure hub anchored by the Via Ferrata — a guided cliff-climbing experience using fixed cables, iron rungs, and a suspension bridge, led by ACMG-certified guides. Four routes range from beginner-friendly 2.5-hour climbs to the full-day Summiteer route. The sightseeing chairlift carries visitors to the historic Cliffhouse Bistro at nearly 7,000 feet for panoramic dining and hiking.
Norquay stands out as the only resort in the park offering both winter skiing and summer Via Ferrata, giving it year-round appeal that the bigger resorts lack. The tubing park is a hit with families, and the compact size means shorter lift lines and a more relaxed vibe than Sunshine or Louise.
