About Night Tour La Fortuna
Night Tour La Fortuna is a specialist nocturnal wildlife walking company that leads guided hikes through a private rainforest reserve near Arenal Volcano after dark. As the sun sets, the Costa Rican jungle transforms — tree frogs begin calling, kinkajous emerge from their dens, and dozens of nocturnal species become active. The company offers a carefully crafted two-hour experience that brings small groups face-to-face with this hidden world.
Tours depart at 6:00pm and 8:00pm nightly, with a maximum of eight guests per certified naturalist guide, ensuring an intimate and low-impact experience. Guides use red-filtered torches that allow visitors to see wildlife without disturbing the animals, and their trained eyes spot creatures most people would never notice — red-eyed tree frogs perched on leaves, sleeping toucans, coiled pit vipers, tarantulas, and sloths curled in the canopy. The reserve's trails are well-maintained and accessible, making the walk suitable for most fitness levels.
What makes Night Tour La Fortuna stand out is the quality of their guides and the consistently high wildlife sighting rates. Because they operate on the same private reserve every night, guides know exactly where species tend to roost, nest, and feed, resulting in reliable sightings even during the dry season. The small group size means every guest gets close-up views and the chance to ask questions. It is one of the highest-rated activities in the entire Arenal region.
