About Northern Light Balloon Expeditions
Northern Light Balloon Expeditions is Sedona's original hot air balloon company, founded in 1974 and still family-run after more than five decades of sunrise flights over Red Rock Country. Their launch site at 455 Dry Creek Road puts passengers directly above some of the most photographed landscapes in the American Southwest.
Flights depart at sunrise seven days a week, weather permitting, and last approximately one to one-and-a-half hours depending on wind conditions. They operate both intimate seven-passenger baskets and larger fourteen-passenger gondolas, making them flexible for couples, families, and group outings. A post-flight champagne toast is included with every ride, continuing a ballooning tradition that dates back centuries.
Northern Light's longevity speaks for itself — few balloon operators anywhere in the world have been flying the same terrain for fifty-plus years. Their pilots know every thermal, every canyon downdraft, and every angle that catches the morning light on Cathedral Rock. For first-time flyers and seasoned aeronauts alike, it's the definitive Sedona balloon experience.
