About Playa Boardsports
Playa Boardsports is the only year-round, full-service kiteboarding and paddleboarding school in Playa del Carmen, based at the Grand Coral Beach Club on Carretera Federal 307. Owner-operator Sergio is a seasoned kite professional who has built the school into the go-to spot for anyone wanting to learn kiteboarding, wing foiling, or stand-up paddleboarding on the Riviera Maya coast.
The lesson program covers IKO-certified kiteboarding courses from beginner taster sessions through independent rider certification, wing foil lessons, and SUP instruction. Gear rental is available for certified riders, including kites, boards, harnesses, and wing foil setups. Beyond board sports, Playa Boardsports also arranges waverunner rentals, parasailing flights, fishing trips, snorkeling excursions, and boat tours — making them a convenient one-stop shop for beach-day activities.
The Grand Coral Beach Club location is a major advantage — it is a proper beach club with amenities, just minutes from 5th Avenue but away from the densest tourist crowds. The flat, warm Caribbean water is ideal for learning, and the consistent trade winds from November through May make Playa del Carmen one of Mexico's best kiteboarding destinations.
