About Revolution Rail Co.
Revolution Rail Co. operates electric-assist rail biking adventures along a historic railway line beside Green Lake in Dedham, Maine, roughly 45 minutes from Bar Harbor. The Jenkins Beach Station is the company's newest location and features the first all-electric-assist fleet in the Revolution Rail network, making the pedalling effort accessible to riders of nearly any fitness level.
The experience is a guided, seven-mile round-trip journey that hugs the shoreline of Green Lake, a pristine 3,000-acre lake known for its crystal-clear waters and densely forested banks. Riders pass Little Rocky Pond before reaching a peaceful turnaround point where guides offer a brief history talk and time to relax. Double rail bikes seat two, and quad bikes hold up to four, making it easy for families and couples to ride together. The entire outing takes about two hours at a leisurely pace.
Rail biking is a genuinely unique activity — there is nothing else like it in the Acadia region. The combination of gentle electric assist, smooth rail glide, and lakeside scenery creates a ride that feels effortless yet immersive. Revolution Rail pairs well with a day trip to Acadia and is a strong option for visitors who want an off-the-beaten-path adventure that does not require any technical skill or prior experience.
