About Acadia Sea Kayaking Adventures
Acadia Sea Kayaking Adventures is a boutique sea kayak tour company that launches from Hadley Point Public Beach on the north shore of Mount Desert Island, a few miles from downtown Bar Harbor. The operation is built around small groups — every tour is capped at eight guests, giving it the best guest-to-guide ratio of any kayak outfitter on the island.
Tours range from two-hour sunset paddles to four-plus-hour full explorations of Frenchman Bay. Guides lead paddlers past the Porcupine Islands, through calm harbour waters, and along the rocky coastline, with beach landings to explore tidal pools, study geology, and take in ocean views. Porpoises, harbour seals, bald eagles, and ospreys are regular sightings. All premium paddling gear and stable tandem kayaks are provided, along with life jackets and splash skirts, so beginners feel confident from the first stroke.
The small-group cap is the defining feature. Where larger outfitters run groups of 12 to 20, Acadia Sea Kayaking keeps it tight so guides can adapt the pace, share deeper natural history, and ensure everyone gets personal attention. The Hadley Point launch is quieter than the downtown departures, adding to the sense of a private, off-the-radar outing. Sunset tours are especially popular, with golden light on the bay and fewer boats on the water.
