About Scootours Cape Town
Scootours brings a uniquely fun twist to sightseeing with their downhill monster scooter tours on the slopes of Table Mountain. Launched as one of the first operations of its kind in South Africa, their Cape Town branch runs guided descents from the upper reaches of the mountain down through indigenous fynbos, shaded forest tracks, and scenic mountain roads — all on oversized off-road scooters with fat tyres and disc brakes.
The standard Table Mountain route covers around 7 kilometres of downhill terrain, starting near the Blockhouse on Signal Hill and winding through the upper slopes before finishing near the city. No pedalling is required — gravity does the work while guides control the pace and share stories about the local ecology and history along the way. The experience lasts roughly 90 minutes including briefing, helmet fitting, and a shuttle to the start point. It's suitable for ages 10 and up, and no prior experience is needed.
Scootours is a hit with families, corporate groups, and anyone who wants something more active than a cable car ride without the exertion of a full mountain hike. Their guides are well-trained, the equipment is regularly maintained, and the route offers genuine Table Mountain scenery without the crowds of the usual tourist trails.
