About Scuba North
Scuba North is Northern Michigan's oldest operating dive center, serving the underwater exploration community from their Traverse City location on South Garfield Avenue since 1971. For over five decades, they've trained thousands of divers and established themselves as the region's authority on Great Lakes diving, particularly in the Grand Traverse Bay Underwater Preserve.
They offer a full range of training courses from Open Water Diver certification through advanced specialties, with SDI, TDI, NAUI, and PADI certifications available. Their dive shop carries a complete inventory of equipment for sale and rental, including regulators, BCDs, wetsuits, drysuits, and accessories suited to Michigan's cold-water conditions. They also run guided dive charters to local shipwrecks and underwater preserves throughout the season.
What makes Scuba North exceptional is their deep institutional knowledge of Great Lakes diving conditions. The Grand Traverse Bay Underwater Preserve features historic shipwrecks in as little as 30 feet of water, and Scuba North's guides know exactly where to find them. Their longevity in the community means generations of local divers have earned their certifications here.
