About Smith Rock Climbing Guides
Smith Rock Climbing Guides has been welcoming climbers to Smith Rock State Park since 1967, making them the longest-running guide service at one of America's most iconic climbing destinations. Their retail shop sits at the park entrance in Terrebonne, just 25 minutes north of Bend, and serves as the gateway for thousands of climbers each year.
Their guided experiences range from half-day introductory climbs for complete beginners to full-day private sessions on advanced multi-pitch routes. All guides hold AMGA, PCIA, or PCGI certifications, and every trip includes full gear — harnesses, helmets, shoes, and ropes. Group sizes stay small to ensure personal attention, and they accommodate families, corporate groups, and solo climbers alike. The on-site shop also sells climbing shoes, chalk, guidebooks, and local beta.
With nearly six decades of history at the park, Smith Rock Climbing Guides offers institutional knowledge that newer outfitters simply cannot match. Their guides know every crack, face, and chimney on the 600-foot tuff cliffs, and their beginner programs have introduced more people to climbing at Smith Rock than any other service in the region.
