About Smoky Mountain Angler
Smoky Mountain Angler is the oldest fly fishing shop in Gatlinburg and the only dedicated fly fishing outfitter in town. Located in the Brookside Village area, the shop has been equipping anglers and running guided trips into Great Smoky Mountains National Park for over two decades. It is the go-to resource for anyone looking to fish the park's hundreds of miles of wild trout streams.
The shop offers half-day wade trips into the national park targeting native brook trout, rainbow trout, and brown trout on pristine mountain streams. Full-day float trips are available on nearby tailwaters like the Clinch and Holston rivers. The retail side stocks a full range of fly rods, reels, tying materials, waders, and regional fly patterns, with staff who can recommend hatches and water conditions in real time.
What sets Smoky Mountain Angler apart is the depth of local knowledge — guides have fished these streams for years and know which runs are producing on any given day. The shop is also an authorized guide service for the national park, meaning they hold the permits required to lead trips inside park boundaries. For visiting anglers, it is the single best starting point for a Smokies fishing trip.
