Sockeye Cycle Co. is Skagway's original bicycle tour and rental company, running guided rides and self-guided rentals out of a downtown shop at 381 5th Avenue since the late 1980s. The family-run outfit knows the Klondike Highway, the Dyea flats, and the White Pass corridor better than anyone, and it operates a second base in nearby Haines.
Their signature trip loads riders into a van for a narrated climb up the Klondike Highway to White Pass Summit, then sets them free to coast roughly fifteen miles back down to the sea past waterfalls, glaciers, and Gold Rush landmarks. They also offer Dyea valley rides, the Klondike Discovery tour, and daily rentals on quality road, mountain, and hybrid bikes with helmets and support gear included.
What keeps Sockeye at the top of Skagway's cycling scene is its deep local roots and small-group approach — guides are seasoned mechanics and storytellers who tailor the pace to the group, making it as welcoming for casual pedalers as it is for serious cyclists chasing the border crossing by bike.
