About Spirit Mountain
Spirit Mountain is Duluth's home ski area and year-round adventure park, perched above the city at 9500 Spirit Mountain Place with panoramic views of Lake Superior, the Duluth–Superior harbour, and the St. Louis River valley. The resort boasts 22 alpine runs across 175 acres of skiable terrain with a 700-foot vertical drop — the second largest in the Midwest — served by five chairlifts.
Winter visitors can ski or snowboard groomed runs, hit the terrain park, or try cross-country skiing and tubing. In summer the mountain transforms into an adventure park featuring the Timber Twister alpine coaster (3,200 feet of track), a 700-foot treetop zip line, chairlift-accessed mountain biking trails, disc golf, mini golf, and a giant jumping pillow. The mountain also connects to the 40-mile Duluth Traverse singletrack network, making it a hub for local mountain bikers.
Spirit Mountain is city-owned and operated as a public recreation area, keeping lift tickets and adventure park passes affordable compared to destination resorts. A day pass covers unlimited coaster rides, zip line runs, chairlift access, and more — making it one of the best-value family adventure spots on the North Shore.
