About Sturtevants
Sturtevants has been outfitting Sun Valley's skiers and cyclists since 1948, making them one of the oldest and most storied outdoor shops in the entire state of Idaho. What began as a single Ketchum storefront has grown to four locations, including a critically positioned base-area shop at Warm Springs on Bald Mountain — giving skiers the convenience of picking up and dropping off rental equipment literally steps from the chairlifts.
The winter rental programme covers every type of skier and snowboarder, from first-timers looking for comfortable beginner packages to expert-level riders who want high-performance demo equipment. Season-lease options are available for extended-stay visitors and locals who want the convenience of having dedicated equipment throughout the winter without the commitment of purchasing. Kids' ski and snowboard packages are available in all sizes, and the fitting process benefits from over seven decades of accumulated expertise.
Summer transforms Sturtevants into one of the premier mountain bike operations in the Wood River Valley. The rental fleet includes mountain bikes, comfort bikes, e-bikes, and kids' bikes, covering everything from casual path riding to aggressive singletrack. Guided trail rides take advantage of the extraordinary network of trails that surround Ketchum and Sun Valley, with experienced local guides selecting routes based on each group's ability and interests. Mountain bike camps provide multi-day immersive experiences that combine riding, skills instruction, and trail exploration.
The shuttle service to popular trailheads is an invaluable convenience, particularly for point-to-point rides that would otherwise require complicated car logistics. Ski race services round out the winter offerings for competitive skiers. With nearly eight decades of continuous service to the Sun Valley community, Sturtevants represents a depth of local knowledge and commitment to quality that few shops in any mountain town can match.
