About Agrodome
Agrodome is one of New Zealand's most iconic farm tourism attractions, set on a 350-acre working sheep and cattle farm with panoramic views of Lake Rotorua. Located just 10 minutes from the city centre in Ngongotaha, it has been introducing visitors to New Zealand's agricultural heritage for over 50 years, welcoming hundreds of thousands of international and domestic guests.
The experience centres on two main offerings: the Farm Show — an entertaining indoor presentation featuring 19 champion sheep breeds, shearing demonstrations, cow milking, and working dog displays — and the Farm Tour, a guided tractor-trailer ride across the property where guests hand-feed lambs, alpacas, deer, and other farm animals. The combined experience runs approximately 2.5 hours. They also operate a well-stocked retail shop selling merino wool products, manuka honey, and New Zealand-made souvenirs.
Agrodome stands out as a genuinely educational and family-friendly attraction that showcases the farming culture central to New Zealand's identity. The shows run on a reliable schedule (three times daily), making it easy to plan around other Rotorua activities. For international visitors unfamiliar with pastoral farming, it offers a hands-on, entertaining introduction that consistently earns strong reviews.
