About Antigua Reef Riders
Antigua Reef Riders offers a unique self-drive boat and snorkelling adventure on Antigua's west coast, operating from the Five Islands area near Turner's Beach. Established over 15 years ago, the company has built a loyal following and accumulated over 700 five-star reviews on TripAdvisor by putting guests behind the wheel of their own boat for a guided convoy to Cades Reef in the National Marine Park.
Each Reef Rider is a bespoke 11-foot rigid inflatable boat with fibreglass construction, jet-ski-style centre seating for two, a steering wheel, hand throttle, and a 25-horsepower Yamaha outboard. No previous boating experience is required — trained guides provide a thorough briefing before the group sets off on a seven-mile cruise along the coast. The 2.5-hour experience includes guided snorkelling over coral reefs where guests regularly spot stingrays, parrotfish, and surgeonfish, plus complimentary water and all snorkelling equipment.
The self-drive format is what makes Reef Riders different from every other snorkelling tour on the island. Instead of sitting on a catamaran while a crew does the driving, guests get the thrill of piloting their own boat through open Caribbean water at their own pace. It is equal parts adrenaline and relaxation, and the small group cap of ten boats keeps the experience personal and well-supervised.
