About Apnea Bali
Apnea Bali is the only dedicated freediving school in Tulamben, East Bali — a stretch of coast famous for the USAT Liberty shipwreck and crystal-clear volcanic-sand waters. The school offers courses through multiple certification agencies including Apnea Total, AIDA, and PADI Freediver, catering to complete beginners through to competitive depth athletes.
Sessions typically begin with classroom theory on breath-hold physiology and equalisation techniques, followed by confined-water practice and open-water depth dives along Tulamben's wall. The school runs courses for Level 1 through instructor-level certifications, plus competition coaching and personalised depth training for freedivers pushing their limits. Small class sizes — often one-on-one — mean each student's programme is tailored to their actual progress rather than a fixed curriculum.
Apnea Bali has earned a stellar reputation over more than a decade of operation, with hundreds of five-star reviews praising the patient, expert instruction from lead instructors Julia, Eliane, and Valentina. The Tulamben location itself is a draw: warm 28-degree water, minimal current, and the Liberty wreck sitting at a freedive-friendly 5 to 30 metres make it one of the best training sites in Southeast Asia.
