About Azores Sub Dive Center
Azores Sub Dive Center is a PADI-certified dive centre situated in the marina at Vila Franca do Campo, on São Miguel's scenic south coast. Their location gives them direct access to some of the island's most prized dive sites, including the volcanic islet of Vila Franca — a partially submerged crater that forms a natural marine reserve with crystal-clear visibility and abundant Atlantic marine life.
They offer daily fun dives for certified divers in packages of five or ten dives, covering sites ranging from shallow coral gardens and volcanic arches to deeper walls inhabited by groupers, barracuda, and the occasional visiting manta ray. For newcomers, they run Discover Scuba Diving introductions and the full PADI Open Water course, with all training conducted in the calm, warm waters off the south coast. Snorkelling trips and night dives round out their activity list.
Azores Sub's competitive advantage is their south-coast base — while most Ponta Delgada dive shops must transit 30-plus minutes to reach quality sites, Azores Sub launches directly into prime territory. Their small team keeps groups intimate, and their dive boat is equipped for comfortable surface intervals between dives. The marina's restaurants and cafes are steps away for post-dive refuelling.
