About Bahama Boardz
Bahama Boardz is a surf school and rental shop on South Hemlock Street in Cannon Beach, founded by Titans of Mavericks winner Anthony Tashnick. The shop brings big-wave credibility to the Oregon Coast while maintaining a welcoming, beginner-friendly atmosphere that makes surfing accessible to everyone — including a no-cost adaptive surfing programme for people with disabilities.
Lessons run year-round, seven days a week, and are offered as private sessions with one or two instructors depending on group size, as well as drop-in group classes. A two-to-three-hour lesson runs around $130 per person and includes all equipment — board, wetsuit, booties, and gloves. The rental counter stocks surfboards, bodyboards, wetsuits, and accessories for visitors who want to paddle out on their own, with full setups available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
All Bahama Boardz instructors are CPR-certified, and many are active Cannon Beach firefighters who bring an extra layer of water safety knowledge to every session. The free adaptive surf programme has earned the shop strong community support and media recognition. Whether you're a nervous beginner or a confident intermediate looking for local wave knowledge, Bahama Boardz combines professional instruction with genuine stoke.
