About Caribe Horse Riding Club
Caribe Horse Riding Club is an ethical horseback riding outfitter in the Cocles area just south of Puerto Viejo, founded in 2008 and consistently recognised among the top experiences on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. The club is built around a rescue mission: every horse has been saved from neglect or mistreatment, and tour proceeds go directly toward the animals' care and a private retirement reserve.
Rides combine Caribbean coastline and tropical rainforest, tracing beaches and trails through Cocles, Punta Cocles, Playa Chiquita, Punta Uva, Playa Arrecife, Playa Grande and Manzanillo. The club caters to everyone from complete beginners to experienced riders, with private and fully customisable tours, beach swims on horseback, and natural horsemanship clinics and lessons led by guides with decades of combined training.
What makes Caribe Horse Riding Club special is the genuine welfare focus paired with one of the most scenic ride settings in the country — rescued horses, a 79-acre reserve for retired animals, and small, personal tours along some of the Caribbean's most beautiful beaches. Riders leave having supported a working sanctuary as well as enjoyed an unforgettable outing.
