About Chica Brava
Chica Brava is the original all-inclusive women's surf retreat in Nicaragua, operating in and around San Juan del Sur since 2003. Founded by former Texas attorney Ashley Blaylock, it was the first camp of its kind in the country, dedicated entirely to helping women progress in the water in a supportive, no-pressure environment.
Retreats are multi-day, all-inclusive packages built for adult women at every level — from absolute beginners to intermediate surfers looking to sharpen their technique. Guests get expert female surf coaching with daily video analysis, structured surf-theory workshops, and small-group instruction at the region's best beaches, plus yoga, massage, on-site meals, airport transfers, and daily transport. Optional add-ons include catamaran sailing tours and zip-lining.
Accommodation ranges from The Villa, a modern luxury base in town, to Cloud Farm, a collection of private jungle villas set 1,200 feet above San Juan del Sur with sweeping Pacific views. With warm water, consistent waves, and more than 300 surfable days a year, Chica Brava has earned a reputation as one of Central America's premier destinations for women's surf travel.
