About Cocoa Beach Surf School
Cocoa Beach Surf School teaches surfing at the historic Cocoa Beach Pier, one of the most famous stretches of sand on Florida's Space Coast. Operating in partnership with the Flohana surf shop, the school introduces visitors and locals of all ages to the gentle, beginner-friendly waves that made Cocoa Beach the East Coast's surf capital.
Lessons run year round by appointment and range from private one-on-one coaching to semi-private and group sessions, plus surf clinics and a popular summer camp program for kids. Every lesson includes the surfboard and all necessary equipment, and instructors cover water safety and basic board skills before anyone paddles out. Beach equipment rentals are also available for families who want to make a full day of it.
Teaching from the pier puts students on a sandbar break that is forgiving for first-timers yet fun enough for progressing surfers, with lifeguarded sand and restaurants steps away. The school's instructors are experienced local surfers who know the breaks, tides and sandbars of Cocoa Beach intimately, and their motto — learning to surf is just the beginning — reflects a community-minded operation that keeps students coming back season after season.
