About Cycle Alaska
Cycle Alaska is Juneau's bike tour and rental specialist, locally owned and operating since 1996 from its main shop on West 8th Street with a seasonal dock shop at Marine Way for cruise arrivals. The company packages Juneau's scenery for two wheels, using van support so riders see the highlights without grinding up the hills between them.
The flagship Bikes, Glacier Views and Microbrews tour combines a guided eight-mile ride through the Mendenhall Valley with a visit to the Mendenhall Glacier area and a local craft beer finish — a formula that has made it a staple of the Juneau shore excursion lineup. Guided rides run in small groups on quality hybrid bikes with helmets and rain gear provided. Beyond tours, the shop rents hybrid and electric bikes by the hour or day, with route maps for the Mendenhall Valley trail system, Douglas Island, and the out-the-road stretch of Glacier Highway. The season runs with the cruise calendar, roughly May through September.
What sets Cycle Alaska apart is nearly three decades of local riding knowledge and the van-supported format, which opens the tours to casual riders and families rather than just fit cyclists. Guides are locals who narrate Juneau history and glacier science between stops, making it as much a town tour as a workout.
