About Devil's Pool & Livingstone Island (Tongabezi)
Devil's Pool and Livingstone Island tours are run by Tongabezi from the very lip of Victoria Falls, on the small island where David Livingstone first viewed the waterfall. Guided boat transfers carry guests out to the island, where experienced guides lead them across the rocks to the natural infinity pool perched on the edge of the main falls.
The headline experience is a swim in Devil's Pool itself, where a lip of rock lets confident swimmers sit at the very brink of the drop with the Zambezi thundering over beside them. The pool is only accessible during the lower-water months, typically from around mid-August into December, and there is a minimum age for the swim; earlier in the season the calmer Angel's Pool is offered instead.
Tours are packaged around meals on the island, from breakfast and high tea to a full lunch, giving the outing the feel of a gourmet excursion rather than just a swim. Because independent access to the island is illegal and dangerous, these guided trips are the only sanctioned way to reach one of the most iconic spots at Victoria Falls.
