About Gulf Adventure Center
Gulf Adventure Center operates inside Gulf State Park between Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, using Lake Shelby and the surrounding maritime forest as the setting for the Hummingbird Ziplines — an aerial course that sends riders over water and dunes rather than the usual wooded hillside.
The signature zipline tour links seven towers with six lines covering roughly a mile of cable, including long over-lake crossings, and runs as a guided two-hour experience with trained staff handling all clipping and braking. Riders as young as elementary-school age can fly with weight-range checks, making it a workable family outing rather than an adrenaline-only attraction. At the lakefront base, the center also rents single and tandem kayaks and stand-up paddleboards for calm, gator-spotting-free paddling on the freshwater lake, and it packages ziplining with paddlesports for groups, youth camps, and corporate outings.
Being embedded in one of Alabama's flagship state parks is the differentiator: guests combine a canopy tour with the park's beaches, trails, and campground in a single visit, and the course's over-water lines are unlike anything else on the Alabama coast. The operation has spent more than a decade refining safety systems and remains the area's only true zipline experience.
