About Hahei Kayak Rentals
Hahei Kayak Rentals offers self-guided paddling adventures from the corner of Hahei Beach Road and Grange Road, at the gateway to one of the Coromandel's most scenic coastlines. Built for independent explorers, the business hands paddlers a kayak and the freedom to chart their own route — no guides, no fixed schedule, just open water and a marine reserve to discover.
The rental fleet includes single and double kayaks, with mask-and-snorkel sets and dry bags available to round out a day on the water. Cathedral Cove sits roughly thirty minutes away by paddle, and the surrounding coast opens up further hidden gems including Mares Leg Cove, Stingray Bay, and Gemstone Bay. Children aged six to ten ride free in double kayaks, and the on-site Walnut & Fig eatery food truck keeps paddlers fed before and after their trip.
Operating seven days a week with extended summer hours and seasonal sunrise rentals through December and January, Hahei Kayak Rentals is a flexible, affordable way to experience the marine reserve. Basic swimming ability is required and the team provides safety briefings to ensure first-timers feel confident before heading out.
