About High Five Kitesurf School
High Five Kitesurf School is the only IKO (International Kiteboarding Organisation) certified centre in Cape Town, operating from a beachfront base at 68 Beach Boulevard in Blouberg. Open every windy day from 8am until sunset during the October-to-March season, the school sits directly on one of the world's most consistent kitesurfing beaches — Blouberg's wide, sandy stretch facing Table Mountain across the bay.
Courses follow the IKO progression system from complete beginner through to independent riding, with each lesson running two to three hours. All equipment is provided including trainer kites, full-size kites, boards, harnesses, wetsuits, and helmets. Instructors are IKO-certified and work one-on-one or in pairs, using radio helmets so students can receive real-time coaching while on the water. They also offer stand-up paddleboarding and surfing lessons for non-windy days.
High Five's IKO certification means their qualifications are recognised internationally — students can pick up where they left off at any IKO school worldwide. The Blouberg location itself is ideal: shallow sandy bottom, consistent thermal winds averaging 20-30 knots in summer, and enough space that beginners are not dodging experienced riders. It is a professional, safety-first operation with the credentials to back it up.
