About Skydive Cape Town
Skydive Cape Town operates from a dedicated drop zone at Melkbosstrand on the West Coast, roughly 50 minutes north of the city centre along the R27. Open seven days a week (weather permitting), they are the Cape Town region's go-to tandem skydiving operator, offering introductory jumps for first-timers alongside accelerated freefall programmes for those chasing a solo licence.
Tandem skydives launch from 9,000 or 10,000 feet, with the aircraft ride providing panoramic views of Table Mountain, Robben Island, and the entire West Coast shoreline before the freefall. Jumpers experience up to 35 seconds of freefall at around 200 km/h before the canopy opens for a scenic five-minute descent. HD video and photo packages are available so guests can relive the experience. Accelerated freefall courses run over multiple days for those wanting to progress to independent jumping.
The facility has been operating for over 15 years under the guidance of experienced tandem masters with thousands of jumps each. Their safety record is strong, the briefings are thorough, and the atmosphere at the drop zone is relaxed and welcoming — making it an ideal venue for bucket-list jumps, birthday celebrations, or corporate team outings.
