About Lofoten Diving
Lofoten Diving is a PADI 5-Star IDC dive centre based at Ballstad on the island of Vestvågøy, a short drive from Leknes in the heart of the Lofoten archipelago. The centre is one of Norway's premier cold-water dive operations, offering guided dives, full PADI certification courses, snorkelling trips, and equipment hire in some of the most biologically rich and visually spectacular underwater environments in the Arctic.
Dive sites range from towering kelp forests and sheer fjord walls that plunge to impressive depths, to impeccably preserved shipwrecks scattered along the archipelago's coastline. Marine life includes large Atlantic cod, halibut, wolffish, sea urchins, starfish, and colourful Arctic nudibranchs. The centre runs half-day and full-day dive packages — each including an experienced guide, the option to rent quality equipment, and warm drinks during surface intervals. A Discover Scuba Diving programme is available for first-timers who want to try Arctic diving without a certification.
What distinguishes Lofoten Diving is the combination of PADI 5-Star professionalism and an intimate, small-group approach. With personalised attention, top-tier rental gear, and dive sites that rival the visibility and diversity of many tropical destinations, the centre delivers a genuine Arctic underwater experience that surprises even well-travelled divers.
