About Mission Bay Sportcenter
Mission Bay Sportcenter has been San Diego's largest on-the-water rental operation since 1981, running a 7,000-square-foot facility on Santa Clara Point with two additional satellite locations across Mission Bay. Their fleet is unmatched in breadth — Yamaha WaveRunner jet skis, ski boats, ten-passenger pontoon party boats, Catalina and Hobie sailboats, catamarans, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and pedal boats all launch from the same stretch of waterfront. No other single operator in the area covers the full spectrum from human-powered paddling to seventy-five-foot yacht charters under one roof.
The crown jewel of the fleet is the Triton, a seventy-five-foot catamaran yacht that accommodates up to 105 guests for public sunset cruises, weddings, corporate events, and private charters. Onboard amenities include a thirteen-seat bar, a built-in waterslide, a professional sound system, and a dance floor — all staffed by a USCG-certified captain and crew. For more adventurous outings, their guided coastal jet ski tour departs Mission Bay for a two-hour run past the downtown waterfront and Coronado Bridge and up to the La Jolla kelp beds, with whale, dolphin, and sea lion sightings along the route.
Mission Bay Sportcenter also operates sailing classes on Holder 14 sloops and Hobie Getaway catamarans, glow paddleboard tours under LED lights at sunset, SUP yoga sessions, and youth summer camps for ages four through sixteen that draw hundreds of participants from across the Southwest each season. With forty-five years of continuous operation, three bay-front locations, and a rental menu that spans everything from a twenty-five-dollar kayak hour to a twelve-hundred-dollar yacht charter, the Sportcenter remains the single most comprehensive watersports destination in San Diego.
