About Outland Expeditions
Outland Expeditions is a family-owned whitewater rafting company operating on the Ocoee River from their base in Cleveland, Tennessee, roughly 40 minutes east of Chattanooga. They have been introducing paddlers to the Ocoee's world-class rapids for over two decades, building a loyal following among adventure seekers across the Southeast.
The company runs guided trips on all three Ocoee sections: the Middle Ocoee half-day trip through continuous Class III-IV rapids, the Upper Ocoee Olympic section featuring the 1996 Games whitewater course, and a full-day combination that links both stretches. All guests receive professional guides, US Coast Guard-approved life vests, helmets, and paddles. Minimum age is 12, making it a solid option for families with older children.
Outland Expeditions stands out for its genuine family-run warmth. The staff treat every group like guests rather than customers, with detailed pre-trip safety briefings and enthusiastic guides who know every eddy and wave train on the river. Their outpost on Old Parksville Road offers easy check-in, secure parking, and a relaxed staging area that keeps the pre-trip logistics stress-free.
