About Perol Chico
Perol Chico is a boutique equestrian ranch set in the heart of the Sacred Valley near Urubamba, midway between Cusco and Machu Picchu at the foot of the Urubamba mountain range. Established in 1996 by Dutch-Peruvian horseman Eduard van Brunschot, it is one of South America's most respected horseback riding operations.
The ranch exclusively rides purebred Peruvian Paso horses — a breed famous for its smooth, comfortable gait — meticulously trained and conditioned for long-distance Andean trails. Their signature is the 10-day Sacred Valley Ride through high-altitude terrain with carefully chosen comfortable hotels and trailside lunches in natural settings. Shorter custom rides of three days or more are available for as few as two riders, and they also operate multi-day expeditions in the Arequipa region. Riders are matched to horses by ability, with experienced wranglers and full support throughout.
Perol Chico's reputation rests on its quality horses, intimate group sizes and decades of expertise in luxury multi-day equestrian journeys. For travellers who want to experience the Sacred Valley and the Andes from the saddle on world-class Peruvian Paso horses, it is the benchmark operator in the region.
