Red Star Surf is a surf and kite school with over 13 years of experience teaching and guiding on Famara Beach, widely regarded as one of the best surf breaks in the Canary Islands. Based in the laid-back village of Caleta de Famara, they combine professional instruction with a relaxed surf-camp vibe that has earned them a loyal following among European wave riders and kitesurfers alike.
They offer half-day and full-day standalone surf lessons for drop-ins, as well as week-long surf camps and combined surf-and-yoga retreats that pair five surf sessions with five yoga classes over eight days. Their kitesurf school takes advantage of Famara's reliable trade winds with IKO-certified instruction from beginner through advanced levels. All equipment — boards, wetsuits, kites, and harnesses — is provided and regularly updated.
Red Star stands out for the quality of their accommodation and the completeness of their packages. Their purpose-built surf hostel sits metres from the beach and includes communal areas, a rooftop terrace, and a social programme. Video analysis of every session helps students progress faster, and the small group sizes mean more wave time per student than at the larger schools on the beach.
