About Sacandaga Outdoor Center
The Sacandaga Outdoor Center — known locally as SOC — sits at the confluence of the Hudson and Sacandaga Rivers in Hadley, New York, roughly twenty minutes from Lake George Village. For over thirty years, the center has been a gathering point for paddlers, tubers, and rafters drawn to some of the best river-based recreation in the southern Adirondacks. The waterfront property includes a check-in lodge, gear-up area, and direct river access, creating a streamlined experience from arrival to launch.
The activity menu covers whitewater rafting trips on the Sacandaga River with Class II–III rapids, guided kayak excursions, stand-up paddleboard rentals, and lazy river tubing floats that are perfect for younger kids and groups looking for a relaxed afternoon on the water. All whitewater trips are led by certified guides and include helmets, life jackets, paddles, and shuttle transportation. SOC also offers combination packages that bundle rafting with tubing or kayaking, letting guests experience multiple river activities in a single visit. Seasonal availability typically runs from late May through early October.
SOC's competitive edge is its location at the meeting point of two rivers, which provides access to a wider range of water conditions than most single-river outfitters can offer. The laid-back, camp-like atmosphere — picnic tables along the riverbank, easy parking, and a staff that treats every guest like a regular — has earned the center a loyal following among both local families and tourists who return to the Lake George area year after year.
