About Seward Ocean Excursions
Seward Ocean Excursions is a locally owned, family-run charter company operating small-boat wildlife and sightseeing tours from the Seward small boat harbor. Established in 2016, it is one of the only operators in town running trips on Resurrection Bay year-round, taking guests out in every season aboard a fleet of nimble six-passenger vessels.
With never more than six guests per boat, tours follow no fixed route — captains chase the day, lingering with breaching humpbacks, idling near rafts of sea otters, or nosing toward waterfalls and hidden coves as conditions allow. Itineraries range from two-hour bay tours to longer excursions toward the glaciers of Kenai Fjords National Park, and the boats also handle custom charters for photographers, birders, and small groups celebrating an occasion. Winter departures offer a rare chance to see the bay in its quiet season, when sea ducks gather and snow drapes the peaks to the waterline.
The small-boat format is the drawcard: guests stand feet from the water rather than on a crowded catamaran deck, questions get answered one-on-one, and the schedule flexes around wildlife instead of a timetable. For travelers who value intimacy over vessel size, this is the standout wildlife tour in Seward.
