About Southpoint Divers
Southpoint Divers has been in continuous operation since 1991, making it Key West's oldest PADI 5-Star Dive Center and one of the most consistently top-rated dive shops in the Florida Keys. Their storefront on Front Street sits directly across from the Hyatt Marina, where their custom dive boat is docked — guests can walk out of the shop, cross the road, and be on the water in minutes. That prime downtown location, combined with over three decades of local reef knowledge, has earned them a loyal following among both visiting divers and Key West residents.
The shop is best known for its regular trips to the USS Vandenberg, a 523-foot decommissioned military vessel resting in 140 feet of water about seven miles south of Key West. As one of the world's largest purpose-sunk artificial reefs, the Vandenberg attracts advanced divers from around the globe, and Southpoint's crew knows every deck, corridor, and marine-encrusted surface of the wreck intimately. Reef dives to shallower sites round out the daily schedule for less experienced divers, and night dive excursions offer a completely different perspective on familiar reefs after the sun goes down.
All rental gear is ScubaPro — a deliberate choice that ensures consistency and reliability across the fleet of BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, masks, fins, and dive computers available for hire. PADI certification courses run from Open Water through advanced specialties, taught by instructors who have logged thousands of dives on the local reef system. The shop also carries a curated selection of new ScubaPro equipment for sale, and their knowledgeable staff can help travelling divers with gear servicing and advice on the best dive sites for their experience level.
