About Sun Mountain Lodge
Sun Mountain Lodge is a landmark destination resort perched high above the Methow Valley on Patterson Lake Road, a short drive from downtown Winthrop. Beyond its rooms and dining, the lodge operates as a full four-season adventure base, giving guests and day visitors access to an extensive on-site trail network and a broad menu of guided and self-guided outdoor activities against a backdrop of the North Cascades.
From May through October, Sun Mountain Ranch runs horseback riding across scenic ridgeline trails, while more than 40 miles of trails support mountain biking with e-bike and hardtail rentals available. Down at Patterson Lake, guests can rent rowboats, kayaks and paddleboards through the warmer months, and the lodge offers fly fishing access to the Methow River, guided nature walks, rock climbing, sporting clays, axe throwing and cowboy dinners. In winter the same trail system converts to groomed cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
The combination of a huge private trail network, a working horse ranch, on-site rentals and a concierge of activities under one roof makes Sun Mountain Lodge one of the most complete adventure hubs in the valley. It appeals equally to families wanting a gentle ride or paddle and to active travellers stringing together multiple sports across a single Methow getaway.
