Goat's Beard Mountain Supplies is a family-owned mountain shop in tiny Mazama, at the upper end of the Methow Valley and the gateway to Washington Pass and the North Cascades backcountry. Operating since 2011, the store sits at the heart of one of the state's premier backcountry skiing and climbing zones, offering experience-backed gear, rentals and advice to skiers, climbers, cyclists and hikers.
Its rental program is geared to serious mountain days: alpine touring ski packages with skis, boots and poles, avalanche safety kits with beacon, shovel and probe, and adult and kids' snowshoe packages in winter. In summer the shop rents standard and kids' bikes, bike trailers and KidRunners, and it carries climbing helmets and shoes for the nearby crags. The service side handles ski binding mounting, waxing and edge tuning, boot molding and avalanche pack cartridge refills.
