About Tasman Charters
Tasman Charters operates "Desperate Measures," a 14-metre charter vessel with a generous five-metre beam, running fishing, diving, cruising and sightseeing trips out of Port Nelson and across the top of the South Island. The boat ranges across Tasman Bay, the Abel Tasman National Park, D'Urville Island and the Marlborough Sounds, giving guests access to some of the most productive and scenic waters in the region.
The vessel is set up for serious days on the water, with a large expansive deck, a sizeable fishing and diving platform, an onboard BBQ, a beverage station, a hot shower and a toilet. Charter options include fishing adventures, diving expeditions accommodating up to ten divers, catered harbour cruises, and sightseeing trips, as well as practical services such as mountain bike and kayak transport and water taxi runs to remote bays and island destinations.
With its size, stability and full onboard amenities, Tasman Charters suits everything from a relaxed family day on the bay to a dedicated dive or fishing mission, or a private group cruise with catering laid on. The flexibility to combine activities — fish in the morning, cruise the Abel Tasman coastline in the afternoon — and the experienced crew's deep local knowledge make it a versatile option for exploring Nelson's waters in comfort.
