About Tomoka Outpost
Tomoka Outpost is the concession and camp store inside Tomoka State Park in Ormond Beach, sitting at the confluence of the Tomoka and Halifax rivers about 20 minutes north of Daytona Beach. Run by a crew of local outdoors people, the outpost is the launch point for paddling one of the most wildlife-rich stretches of water on Florida's east coast — a designated manatee sanctuary where dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, and roseate spoonbills are regular sightings.
Single kayaks, double kayaks, and canoes rent by the hour with day-rate caps, so paddlers can explore the mangrove-lined backwaters at their own pace. Guided pontoon boat tours led by a local captain add a narrated option for guests who would rather ride than paddle, covering the river's history from the Timucuan people through the plantation era. Advance reservations are available for private cruises and custom excursions.
The camp store stocks firewood, ice, bait, snacks, cold drinks, ice cream, and camping supplies for the park's campground, making the outpost a hub for day visitors and overnight campers alike. Between the sheltered water, abundant wildlife, and simple hourly pricing, it is one of the easiest places in the Daytona area to get a first kayak experience.
