About Volcano Dive Center
Volcano Dive Center is an SSI-certified scuba diving operator based at Kamari Beach, with additional departure points at Perissa and Akrotiri. They specialise in taking divers into the unique volcanic underwater terrain that makes Santorini one of the most unusual dive destinations in the Mediterranean — think lava tube swim-throughs, volcanic reef walls, and crystal-clear visibility that regularly exceeds 30 metres.
They run daily boat dives to over 40 sites around the island, including the submerged caldera walls, the volcanic islets of Nea and Palea Kameni, and sheltered bays along the southern coast. Courses range from introductory Try Dives for complete beginners to advanced SSI specialties like night diving, deep diving, and underwater photography. Snorkelling trips are also available for non-divers who want to see the volcanic seabed without going deep. All gear is provided and regularly serviced.
What makes Volcano Dive Center distinctive is their deep knowledge of the island's volcanic geology — guides explain the underwater formations, hot vents, and the 3,600-year-old caldera history as part of every dive briefing. The centre has been operating for years and has built a loyal following among travelling divers who return specifically for Santorini's one-of-a-kind underwater scenery. Their small group sizes (typically 4-6 divers per guide) ensure a personal, safe experience.
