About Wave Riding School
Wave Riding School is Ocean City's established learn-to-surf program, meeting at the K-Coast Surf Shop lot at 35th Street and Coastal Highway before heading to the sand. Its instructors have taught thousands of first waves on the Maryland beach break, building a reputation as the go-to surf school for vacationing families.
Lessons run from private one-on-one coaching to small group sessions and multi-day summer surf camps for kids. Every session includes soft-top boards, wetsuits when needed, and beach-side instruction covering paddling, pop-ups, ocean safety, and wave judgment, so complete beginners typically stand up on day one. Intermediate surfers can book coaching to sharpen turns and wave selection beyond the whitewater stage.
The school's tie-in with K-Coast, one of the area's best-known surf shops, gives students on-site parking, quality equipment, and a straight path from first lesson to first board purchase.
