About Woebegone Dive
Woebegone Dive is a boutique charter boat tour operation run by partners Dylan and Lara out of Huskisson, Jervis Bay. They specialise in intimate, eco-friendly snorkelling encounters with some of Australia's most spectacular marine wildlife — including humpback whales, Australian fur seals, bottlenose dolphins, and grey nurse sharks.
Their signature experience is the whale swim expedition, available from June to October during the humpback migration. These five-to-six-hour trips take small groups out to encounter whales in the crystal-clear waters of Jervis Bay, using an ethical approach where the boat parks with engines off and waits for the whales to approach on their own terms. Year-round, Woebegone also offers seal swim and shark snorkel tours, as well as freedive training courses taught by expert local instructors.
What makes Woebegone stand out is the deeply personal, low-impact approach to wildlife interaction. With strict limits on group sizes and a permit that prioritises animal welfare over guaranteed sightings, every encounter feels genuinely wild and unscripted. Premium freediving gear is available for hire, and the crew's passion for marine conservation shines through on every trip.
