About Castaway Divers
Castaway Divers operates from Castaway Resort at the southern end of Sunrise Beach, with a house reef starting a short swim from the shop's doorstep. It is a deliberately small operation that teaches and dives in small groups so nobody spends a course waiting in line behind ten other students.
Divers can choose between PADI and SDI certification tracks from beginner through professional levels, and the shop is one of the few on Koh Lipe teaching AIDA freediving courses with dedicated freediving masks, long fins, and wetsuits included. Kids from eight can start in shallow water with the Bubblemaker program. Daily boat dives cover Stonehenge, 8 Mile Rock, the Yong Hua wreck, and the Adang-Rawi reefs, and snorkel sets rent by the day for the reef out front.
The setting does a lot of the selling: a driftwood-style beachfront resort, gear rinsed and hung steps from the water, and the option to freedive, scuba, and snorkel from one base on the island's prettiest stretch of morning sand.
