About Early Winters Outfitting
Early Winters Outfitting is a horseback outfitter based in Mazama, in the beautiful upper Methow Valley on the doorstep of the Pasayten Wilderness and North Cascades. Owned by Aaron Lee and Judy Burkhart, who bring more than a decade of experience guiding recreational riders, photographers, hunters and anglers, the outfit runs everything from short day rides to multi-day expeditions deep into remote high country.
Their offerings span guided day rides for all ability levels, wilderness pack trips into backcountry camps, dedicated fishing and photography trips, scenic hunting expeditions and hands-on packing instruction for those wanting to learn the craft. They even host cattle drives and children's camps, giving families and first-time riders an authentic taste of Western horsemanship in one of Washington's wildest settings.
Early Winters recently expanded by acquiring the historic North Cascade Safari operation, adding new territory and permitted access for client adventures. That combination of seasoned guides, hard-won backcountry knowledge and a genuine ranching heritage makes them a standout choice for travellers who want to explore the Methow's wilderness the traditional way — on horseback.
