About Methow Trails
Methow Trails is the Winthrop-based nonprofit behind the largest cross-country ski trail network in North America, weaving more than 200 kilometres of groomed trails through the valley floor, forests and foothills of the Methow. Established in 1977, the organisation's mission is to connect people, nature and communities through a world-class trail system, and it is the reason the Methow Valley is regarded as one of the premier Nordic skiing destinations on the continent.
Each winter, Methow Trails grooms an extensive network for skate and classic skiing, with daily grooming reports, weather and maps delivered through a dedicated mobile app that also sells digital trail passes. The same trail system opens up in the warmer months for hiking, trail running and mountain biking, and the nonprofit hosts community events throughout the year and coordinates a low-cost public shuttle to upper-valley trailheads.
Trail passes fund the grooming and maintenance that keep the network world-class, and visitors can pick them up easily via the app or local vendors before heading out. For anyone planning a Nordic getaway or a summer day on the trails, Methow Trails is the connective tissue of the valley — the organisation whose groomed corridors link the towns, lodges and backcountry of the Methow into a single, ski-in, ski-out landscape.
