About Freeride Mountain Sports
Freeride Mountain Sports is a mountain bike shop on Water Street in downtown St. John's. Chris Jerrett founded the business in 1997, and it has been part of the local riding scene ever since, both as a retailer and as a driving force behind trail building around the city.
The shop sells bikes, parts and accessories from a range of well-known brands and runs a full service department for tune-ups and repairs. For visitors and locals without their own bike, Freeride rents mountain bikes by the day, and staff can point riders toward the right trails for their ability. Rentals can be arranged by dropping in, calling or sending an email.
The link to the trails is what makes Freeride stand out. Chris has been a leader in local trail development, and the shop is closely tied to the East White Hills trail network on the edge of the city, which it promotes on its own site. Renting from a shop that helped build the trails means getting advice from people who know every section, which is useful in a place where most visitors assume the riding stops at the coastline.
